The Peryls are proud to welcome you aboard the maiden voyage of the magnificent HMS Extraordinarium… truly, a finer vessel has never graced the ocean bed.
Ok, she’s an old tub, a little rough around the edges with a couple of holes below deck, but nothing we can’t bail out as we go, and it’s not like we’re going to run into any unexpected icebergs or anything.
So, without further ado, you are cordially invited to join The Peryls for tea and cakes, and enjoy a performance of our new EP “I Have Not Slept One Wink”. There will be music, entertainment and even a dash of burlesque, since we’re outside coastal waters and no-one can touch us for it.
All this and more, brought forth for your pleasure as we bob around hopelessly on the Atlantic.
This is what we call an optional black tie event, meaning that if, like a good sport, you show up in a dinner jacket, or for the ladies, a pretty evening dress, you will be considered a first-class guest and will be treated to a glass of bubbly of questionable vintage and some quite horrible fawning. If you choose to come in your civvies then you’re still more than welcome of course, but you can sit in steerage with the rest of the ne’er-do-wells.
The Peryls have been recording and performing for two years and tracks from our three EPs to date have featured on BBC Radio 6. The Christmas Extraordinarium in 2009 was a drunken roaring success, testing our authentic Victorian health and safety standards to the very limit.
The Peryls’ Extraordinarium is a recurring event of no set interval with indeterminate theme. It pops up whenever it jolly well feels like it and takes place at times and venues that carefully follow a plan we haven’t written yet.
Evenings of music, mirth, and madness, no two shows are the same… because we can never remember what we did.
HMS Extraordinarium departs on Saturday 17th April at 18:30 sharp, from:
The Gipsy Hill Tavern
Upper Norwood

A sartorially elegant and deliciously decadent treat awaits those travelling to Brighton for the May Bank holiday. As part of the Fringe Festival, May 28th will see MC Elemental hosting a Friday-evening soiree set to introduce all right-thinking explorers to our little world.
We have the legendary Ghostfire, the harp-laden majesty of Trousseaux and the haunting cello-tinged enchantment of The Peryls. An evening-long projection of Victorian film will accompany the event as will a fine selection of Steampunk finery from Brighton’s innovative inventors.
Tickets are £5 and limited to 250. Get advance tickets from trousseaux@hush.com or contact Box Office 01273 764905.
